Face cards — King, Queen, Jack — and the Ace each carry 10 penalty points. Number cards carry their face value (a 7 of hearts costs you 7 points if left unmatched). Joker cards carry zero penalty points, which is why using your Jokers to complete high-value groups reduces your exposure significantly if an opponent declares before you.

If you drop out of a deal before picking up your first card, you incur a fixed 20-point penalty (first drop). If you drop after picking up at least one card, the penalty increases to 40 points (middle drop).
